The retired employees of Uttarakhand Peyjal Nigam have accused the State Government of betrayal as it has not implemented the provisions even after more than one year of the written agreement being signed. The agreement was inked on November 14 last year.
Addressing newsmen here on Monday, the State president of Uttarakhand Jal Nigam Retired Employees’ Welfare Association Dinesh Bhandari said that the retired employees are being discriminated against as the serving employees are provided with the pay increments regularly. He said that the members of the association would meet Chief Minister Harish Rawat and would apprise him about the betrayal and discriminating approach of the State Government officials towards the retired employees.
Bhandari informed that the retired employees of the Nigam are receiving their pensions late and they have not received the DA arrears for the last three years. He said that the Government should extend the benefit of the Assured Career Progression (ACP) to those personnel, who retired before January, 2012.
The president of the association threatened that the retired employees would be forced to start an agitation if their genuine demands are not accepted soon. Bhandari hoped that the CM would take cognizance of the problems of the retired employees. He informed that the association would chalk out its future strategy and course of action at its meeting on December 31.
The association is demanding that the payments of pensions of the Peyjal Nigam employees should be made by the State treasury like in the case of the retired Uttarakhand Power Corporation employees. The association is of the view that all the dues and the pensions to the retired employees should be paid without procedural delays.
The members of the association are demanding that the State Government should give the due monetary benefits as per the High Court orders to those employees whose services were transferred to the Nigam from Uttar Pradesh and got retired at the age 58.
