Following declining supply of petrol from the oil companies, the vehicle users were forced to rush from one pump to another on Tuesday. However, Dehradun district food and civil supplies officer PS Pangti said that the administration is in touch with the senior officers of BPC, HPC and IOC to ensure the supply becomes normal.
“Fuel crunch has been affecting sale at many pumps being run by HPC, IOC and BPC for the past few days. However, things have not become dry yet. The companies concerned keep sending oil. But the volume of such supply is not sufficient to meet the requirements. However, we hope things would look up in the coming two days,” he added.
Those running the pumps in the city said that they are not receiving petrol regularly. A petrol pump employee at Prince Chowk said, “We have sold the fuel on Tuesday as we received a truck loaded with the fuel on Monday.”
“We must store fuel as we apprehend the situation might worsen again,” said one of the worried-looking residents of the city.
Asked to comment on the scenario, Sarvesh Kumar Sinha, senior IOC officer, said that there has been shortage of supply of petrol from the companies. “However, things would improve in the coming couple of days,” he assured.
