To protest against the attack on the owner of a petrol station in Premnagar on Monday night, all the petrol stations in Dehradun, Mussoorie and Vikasnagar remained closed till afternoon on Tuesday. Petrol stations in Rishikesh were kep open due to the ongoing Yatra season.

After getting assurance from Dehradun Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Nivedita Kukreti, Dehradun Petrol Dealers Welfare Association (DPDWA) agreed on opening the petrol stations after midday.

President of DPDWA, Ashish Mittal said, “We have spoken with SSP Kukreti. She has given us assurance that the culprits will soon be arrested. They have found some lead, details of which she did not disclose.” When asked about their ultimatum of 48 hours he said, “Our ultimatum stands. This is not the first case of loot, but the first case of gun fire on an owner of petrol station. If police fail to arrest the culprits or find something concrete till Wednesday evening, we will conduct a meeting and plan our strategy.”

Many of the people were found wandering in search of open petrol stations during the morning hours. To the relief of the people the association decided to open petrol stations after 1 pm.
