With the commencement of the Shravan month from Tuesday, an increasing number of people are visiting the Tapkeshwar Mahadev temple to seek the blessings of lord Shiva. However, traders in the vicinity of the temple said that the crowd of visitors on the first day of Shravan was comparatively less and is expected to surge on the first Monday of this period.

Shopkeeper Umesh said, “There is more rush on Mondays which are considered special. The significant increase in number of people visiting the shrine during Shravan will be good for business,” he said. Sushma Devi, a resident of Patelnager had come to the shrine on Tuesday as it was the first day of the auspicious month. She said, “The Tapkeshwar temple is famous all over the country. I try to visit this shrine on all important occasions, and today is one of the significant days of the month- the first day. It is Tuesday which is devoted to Goddess Parvati, who is worshipped by all the women for the good health of their family,” she said.

When asked about the recent disaster at Kedarnath and elsewhere in Uttarakhand, one of the devotees, Suraj said, “The Kedarnath temple has been left intact while surrounding buildings have been destroyed. This shows the divine hand of god.”
