'People see Modi as hope for graft-free governance'

Replying to media queries about Congress-led State Government’s recommendation for CBI enquiry in alleged NRHM scam former Chief Minister Maj Gen BC Khanduri said “it is mere an eyewash because they want to get political mileage out of it. That is why they have not sent any communiqué regarding this so far. If they (Chief Minister Harish Rawat) really want to do investigation then they (BJP) would welcome such enquiry.” Gen Khanduri said this after welcoming lt Gen HB Kala in BJP, here in Dehradun on Monday. While welcoming to the Gen Kala, Gen Khanduri said that BJP always pays respect to the servicemen and ex-servicemen.

He further said that if they (Congress) are really concerned about fighting with corruption then they would not have abolished the lokayukta Act, which was passed by the BJP Government in 2011 and even president had given their approval later.

He also said that when BJP had formed Government in Uttarakhand after Assembly election-2007 then we had constituted an enquiry against 56 scams, which had allegedly happened during Congress regime in between 2002-07, and we recommended vigilance enquiry on the recommendation of enquiry commission report. It is our fault that we could not highlight the enquiry commission report in public forum.

In another question Gen Khanduri said that BJP prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi is not above the party. It is okay that party is contesting general election-2014 under his leadership and nothing else. Currently common man are fed up with the corruption, which were promoted by the Congress led UPA Government, so they are seeing NaMo as a hope because they see him as honest and strict administrator.
