The BJP candidate from Garhwal lok Sabha seat and former Uttarakhand Chief Minister Maj General (retd) Bhuwan Chandra Khanduri said that the public is responding positively to the BJP in the Garhwal constituency.

Addressing the media here, Khanduri said that the people are frustrated and dissatisfied with the governance of Congress led UPA Government for last 10 years and two years regime of Congress led State Government.

Stating that the wave in favour of BJP prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi was sweeping across the nation including in Uttarakhand, Khanduri said that campaigning by former Congress leader Satpal Maharaj who is now in the BJP and “exposing the Congress” has further ensured BJP’s victory from all five parliamentary segments in Uttarakhand.

He further informed that Modi would address a public meet at Srinagar, Garhwal on the morning of May 3 while BJP national president Rajnath Singh will campaign in Kotdwar on May 5.

Stating that price hike and corruption are the main issues which the people want resolved by voting the Congress out of power, Khanduri said that during his campaign he is also raising State-specific issues like the shortage of doctors, teachers, food grains, condition of roads and other problems faced by the common public in

the State.

The BJP Garhwal candidate further said that victims of the June 2013 disaster are still facing hardships with little being done for their proper rehabilitation.

The condition of roads is bad even 10 months after the disaster and not yet safe for the Char Dham Yatra, he said while hoping that the pilgrimage season passess off  smoothly.

Jaspal Singh Negi rejoins BJP

Former Uttarakhand Sports Council vice-chairman and former chairman of the Pauri municipal council Jaspal Singh Negi has rejoined the Bharatiya Janata Party. This was announced by the State BJP President Teerath Singh Rawat. It will be recalled that Negi was expelled from the BJP last year after he

contested in the election to the post of Pauri municipal council chairman as an independent candidate against the party candidate.

Negi was refused a party ticket in the local body polls after which various local organisations and members of the public had urged him to contest the election as an independent due to his honest image and vision for development. He had contested as an independent but could secure only third position. The BJP had then expelled Negi and seven other party workers for anti party activities.

After rejoining the party, Negi said that he was pleased to be back in the party and would work for the party candidate from Garhwal BC Khanduri openly after having worked for him silently for some days now.
