While reiterating his resolve to eliminate corruption, Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat said that the people must come out in support of his anti-graft move. “I would not allow the anti-corruption drive to slacken as long as the BJP Government is in power. Things started with the action taken against the NH-74 land acquisition scam involving Udham Singh Nagar district. Besides, the officers, including four PCS officers and two land certification officers, allegedly involved in the scam, were suspended with immediate effect,” he said. He also vowed to implement the transfer and the lokayukta acts to give the people of the state good governance as promised. He was addressing a felicitation programme staged in Raipur on Saturday.
While making it clear that he was referring to the former Chief Minister Harish Rawat without, however, naming him, the CM said that he did not believe in dishing out flippant statements. “I am rather inclined to act,” he said.
Referring to the mining mafia, the CM said that his Government was relentless against such mafias. “The murderer of the forest watcher was arrested promptly,” he said.
Stressing on his resolve to help the State financially self-reliant, he said that his Government would dig new sources of revenue generation while further strengthening the sources whence revenue is presently coming into the state’s coffers.
“We are also working on the right to service act which would be brought soon. To ensure jobs to every competent person, we are considering expanding the scope of the act while incorporating other services within its ambit,” Rawat said.
Referring to the raids made on some illegally operating abattoirs on Saturday, the CM said that more raids are on the cards. “All such abattoirs would be shut down in time to come,” he added.
He said that his Government being resolved to function as a people-friendly Government, they would introduce a toll free number soon to enable the people to lodge complaints. “I am assuring the people that the administration would step in in two hours after a complaint is lodged,” he said.
Vowing to execute the Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s dream project Swachhta Mission, the CM said that he had recently led a team that sprinkled a special organic substance at the trenching ground located on Sahastradhara road to spare the local inhabitants the stink that it emanates. “We would do the same in other places too in the coming days to help the locals to live without being assailed by the stench. Besides, we would also launch cleanliness drives along the rivers,” he said.
He also informed that as per the initiatives rolled out by the Centre, the state would have 100 generic medicine centres and one central plastic engineering technology institute. “You would be surprised to know that the Centre is selling medicines at prices 90 percent cheaper than the prices the multinational companies are charging for the same medicines,” the CM said.
