People frustrated with Cong: Khanduri

The BJP candidate from Garhwal lok Sabha seat and former Uttarakhand Chief Minister Maj General (retd) Bhuwan Chandra Khanduri said that the people of nation and the State are frustrated and dissatisfied with the Congress’ 67 year long governance and are waiting to oust the Congress from power.

In the 10 years of UPA regime, the Government had failed in all spheres, he said while addressing the media after inaugurating the party election office here. Khanduri said that the nation’s prestige in the international community had been affected by the UPA Government’s failure to respond effectively to incursions by China and Pakistan.

The voters want to get rid of the Congress to facilitate a solution to price rise and corruption which are plaguing the nation. “The Modi wave has spread across the nation due to his personality and mental make up. Our neighboring country beheaded Indian soldiers along the border, but the Union Government remained apathetic. During the NDA Government with Atal Bihari Vajpayee as Prime Minister, India conducted nuclear bomb tests inspite of pressure from various nations. This nuclear device was prepared some years before it was tested during the NDA regime, but no previous Government including that headed by Rajiv Gandhi with 412 Congress MPs, lacked the courage to take this decision in the face of pressure from foreign nations,” said Khanduri.

He added that if elected to form the Government, the BJP would facilitate redressal of problems like price hike and corruption afflicting the nation. Targeting the Congress led State Government, Khanduri said that it lacked the vision for development and had allowed the corruption graph to rise consistently. While the BJP had supported the movement for creation of Uttarakhand, the Congress had opposed Statehood.

“The Congress-led State Government has also cancelled the transfer policy implemented by the BJP State Government during my tenure as Chief Minister and due to this there is shortage of teachers and doctors in the mountainous districts of the State,” he said, while expressing confidence about the BJP winning all the five lok Sabha seats in the State. Khanduri also expressed confidence about the BJP winning all five seats in Uttarakhand due to changed thinking of the voters.
