With just four days left for New Year celebrations, people are flocking to the gift galleries and purchasing a variety of items to wish dear ones a happy and prosperous 2014. Depending on preference and budget, there are endless choices to look for.
Most of the people prefer cards during New Year to wish their relatives and friends and for them this year a wide range of cards are available in the market, along with the basic cards, relationship cards for mom, dad, brother, sister and many other relations are also available in galleries at reasonable price. "We almost have more than 25 designs of cards with different messages on it starting from Rs 20 to Rs 500", said owner of gift Gallery Ashish Sharma.
He said that besides the array of cards, there are many other attractive gifts. There are idols of deities like the laughing Buddha, Sai Baba, Om and Ganesh. Owner of Floral Paradise Amardeep Singh said that in his store there is something for every age group. These days trend of gifting flower is more among the customers and "we deals with both artificial and original flower," he added.
He also said that other regular stuff such as zodiac sign mugs, statues, photo frames and chocolate boxes are also being purchased in large numbers. Manju of Cindrella Gift Shop said that every year customer demands something new and unique gifts. So this year "we have especially ordered designer lamps and exquisite crystal and gold-plated Swarovski gift items like animal figures, trays, bowls in a range of Rs 150 to Rs 5,000 which are captivating and looks apt to decorate any corner of the house".
"I purchased 10 New Year cards for my friends so that I could wish them right on time," said Alka, a college student. A local resident laxman said that cards are the best and reasonable gift for friends at New Year. He also said that normal gift shops are having a affordable and wide variety of gifts if compare with the branded one.
