Demanding increase in commission per quintal ration (wheat and rice) for Public Distribution System dealers, a delegation of PDS dealers led by Uttaranchal Fair Price Dealers Association (UFPDA) president Jitendra Gupta met the District Food and Civil Supply officer and submitted a memorandum to the DSO on Thursday.
Gupta warned that PDS dealers will go on indefinite strike across the State if Government fails to address the pending demands. Gupta alleged that the State Government has not increased the commission per quintal ration for PDS dealers for the last many years. The dealers are receiving only Rsseven per quintal for transportation of ration from the godown to their shop. Under Atal Khadyanna Yojana, the Government had assured hike in commission per quintal ration for the dealers but this assurance is yet to be implemented. The Government is going to implement National Food Security Scheme in the State from July 1 but they have not considered the redressal of the PDS dealers’ demand, he complained.
“We have submitted several memorandums to the State Government stating out demand but the State has remained apathetic. The PDS dealers will go on indefinite strike and the State Government will be responsible for this if the demand is not met soon," he added. Among those present on the occasion were union general secretary Rakesh Mahendru, union Mahanagar president Rajendra Mahendru, Sanjay Sharma, BD Kumar and others.
