PCC wants stringent action against accused

The Pradesh Congress Committee has strongly condemned the killing of a forest department staff run over by a tractor trolley transporting illegally quarried material in Ramnagar area on Friday.

Calling for stringent action against the accused, the Uttarakhand PCC president Kishore Upadhyay termed it a reprehensible crime. He opined that the law and order situation had deteriorated with the change of Government in the State making the criminal elements involved in illegal quarrying to become bold enough to perpetrate such a crime. According to the PCC chief spokesman Mathura Datt Joshi, a group of PCC leaders including Upadhyay were to leave for Ramnagar where they are slated to visit the site of the incident and meet the bereaved family members on Monday.
