PCC to observe August as Information Technology month

Published on:

The Uttarakhand Pradesh Congress Committee will commemorate the month of August as information technology month in memory of former Prime Minister Rajeev Gandhi. As part of this activity, all office bearers of the party from the booth level to the State level will be linked to the Congress’ information technology department and the social media. The PCC chief Kishore Upadhyay said this while speaking at the monthly meet of PCC office bearers at the Congress Bhawan here on Sunday.

Chief Minister Harish Rawat and party MlAs including Cabinet Minister Pritam Singh among other office bearers of the party attended the event in an apparent attempt to consolidate the party organisation at a time of more frequent fluctuations in the State politics.

Stressing that the importance of the information technology department of the Congress should not be underestimated, Upadhyay also directed the formation of three committees of the department in the near future.

The PCC chief warned the party’s office bearers against making any type of negative statements. Congress office bearers should work in

coordination with the State Government to prepare for achieving victory in the 2017 Vidhan Sabha elections,

he said, while adding that party’s women meets and training camps for party workers will be organised in the near future.

Expressing his views on the occasion CM Harish Rawat opined that the Congress was moving ahead organisationally in Uttarakhand. Stating that battles are fought with soldiers not generals, he appreciated the position of the party organisation fully prepared to enter the electoral field for ensuring a return to office in the 2017 Vidhan Sabha elections.

CM said that the Congress will contest the assembly elections with its central focus on the issue of integrated development. The party workers have an important role to play in exposing the machinations of the Bharatiya Janata Party in the public sphere.

Citing various schemes and efforts, Rawat averred that the Congress-led State Government had focused on welfare of various sections of society. He alleged that the BJP had a tradition of misinforming the public and indulging in “negative” politics.

The all-India Congress minorities department chairman Khurshid Ahmed, PCC vice president Jot Singh Bisht, cabinet minister Pritam Singh, MlAs Navprabhat, Hira Singh Bisht, Madan Singh Bisht, Rajkumar, Sarita Arya, Mamta Rakesh and party office bearers were also among those present on the occasion.
