Stressing that each party worker is responsible for ensuring the success of the party’s membership campaign, the Uttarakhand Pradesh Congress Committee president Kishore Upadhyaya has appealed to the party cadre to actively participate in the membership campaign in these “challenging” times. Upadhyaya said this while chairing a meet with the party’s districts’ in-charge to review the Congress membership campaign.

The party’s State co-in-charge Sanjay Kapoor was also present in the meeting. Expressing his views on the party’s membership campaign, the PCC chief averred that the campaign was being undertaken successfully in Uttaakhand. The PCC is confident of surpassing the membership target set by the All India Congress Committee.

The district Congress committee is trying to make at least two active members per booth and about 75 per cent of the membership campaign has been completed in most districts, he added. Addressing the party workers, Kapoor spoke of the directions received from the party high command.

He said that the districts’ in charge should tour the areas under their purview from February 20 to 27 and lending impetus to the membership campaign, should facilitate the submission of membership forms to the State head office through the district Congress committee. PCC chief coordinator Jot Singh Bisht and other party leaders were also present in the meeting.
