The Pauri Superintendent of Police Vimla Gunjyal has suspended two more police constables of Dugadda police post based on the interim report of the Kotdwar police circle officer for their involvement in the assault on driver Bhagwan Singh, a retired army man. She also transferred Kotdwar Kotwali in-charge Anshu Chaudhary to lakshmanjhula.

Police constable Govardhan and Praveen Kumar were suspended on the report of the CO Kotdwar. Four police constables have been suspended so far in the Dugadda driver assault case, out of which two police constables- Sonu and Sachin were suspended on the day after the incident for their alleged involvement in the assault.

Gunjyal said the CO has submitted only the interim report regarding the involvement of police personnel in the assault on driver Bhagwan Singh. After full inquiry of the charges framed in the complaint of Bhagwan Singh and the police personnel, the final report will be submitted.

Anil Joshi from Srinagar will take the charge of Kotwali Kotdwar and SO lakshmanjhula Dhirendra Rawat has been transferred to Srinagar Garhwal. On Wednesday, the agitation under the banner of Jan Sangharsh Samiti entered the 10th day in Kotdwar against the assault on Singh with retired army men also taking part in the protest. The Samiti expressed dissatisfaction at the limited progress in the case and alleged that the authorities have failed to ensure justice to Singh yet.

The Samiti demanded that action should be taken against the CO and SHO concerned. The lansdowne MlA had also recently protested on Tuesday demanding action against the guilty policemen. It is pertinent to mention that Police Kotwali had registered a case against 15 unknown policemen of Dugadda on the complaint of the victim under section 147, 323, 504 and 506 of Indian Penal Code on August 21 after Bhagwan Singh was allegedly assaulted by policemen when he refused to pay them bribe.
