The case of two children- Rishabh and Sandhya being kidnapped in the district about a month after the case was transferred from the revenue police to the regular police. While the police investigating officer claims that some clues have been found that the case will be solved soon, the grandfather of the kidnapped kids has appealed to the Pauri district magistrate to trace the children.
The two children — three year old Rishabh and four year old Sandhya — went missing from their family’s rented accommodation at Chelusain in Dwarikhal block of Pauri district on the morning of June 3 earlier this year. After realising that the children were missing, their family members started searching for them but could not locate them. The family members suspecting that the kids were kidnapped, filed a report of the children missing in the Patwari Chowki and on this report the revenue police registered a case of kidnapping under section 363 of the Indian Penal Code. Due to the revenue police making no headway towards finding the missing children, their grandfather Vishnu Shah had requested the district administration to transfer the case from the revenue police to the regular police. Taking cognisance of the case, the district magistrate had ordered the case to be transferred to the regular police on June 7. The Pauri Superintendent of Police Ajay Joshi then appointed senior sub inspector Manoj Kumar Sirola of lansdowne Thana as the investigating officer in this suspected kidnapping case. Talking to The Pioneer on Sunday, Sirola said that the case is being investigated from various angles. The police had found some clues, he said, while refusing to elaborate on these clues stating that the case was still under investigation. He stressed that the case would be solved in the near future.
It is pertinent to mention here that the father of the kidnapped children, Bihar native, Dilip Shah owns a jewellery shop in Chelusain. It is being suspected that the children may have been kidnapped for ransom. However, so far no demand has been made by anyone for ransom.
