The Pauri district administration plans to improve arrangements for the Shrawan Kanwar Mela held at the Neelkanth Mahadev temple in Pauri district.
The authorities are working to ensure proper arrangements for the Mela set to start from July 12 considering the fact that the number of Kanwarias arriving here has been increasing in recent years.
Pauri district magistrate Chandra Shekhar Bhatt will monitor the preparations made by different departments so far at a meeting of the organising committee on July 5 at Neelkanth.
Bhatt said that the arrangement for the Kanwar Mela should be better in comparison to the past years considering the fact that the numbers of visiting devotees has been increasing every year. Bhatt said that all officers concerned have been instructed to provide information of the departmental preparations for the event.
Bhatt said that the superintendent of police will handle the security, chief medical officer will handle health facilities, BSNl Srinagar will handle telecommunications, Peyjal Nigam and Jal Sansthan executive engineers will handle the potable water supply, Public Works Department executive engineer will monitor the roads, power corporation executive engineer will ensure power supply, district supply officer will ensure adequate supply of foodgrains, regional transport office will monitor transport arrangements while Uttarakhand Renewable Energy Development Agency project officer will handle alternate power fuelled facilities.
