Patients surprised by 'pleasant attitude' of docs

The patients who visited the Doon Hospital on Wednesday were surprised by the ‘pleasant attitude’ of medical officers and other staff. The doctors were in a good mood on the day on account of ‘Doctor’s day’ and shared pleasantries with patients. The hospital administration had pasted congratulatory letters at different places asking the doctors not to write the medicines from outside.Principal Medical Superintendent (PMS) of Doon Hospital Dr RS Aswal told The Pioneer that he took a meeting of all the doctors in the morning and asked them to observe the Doctor’s day in a different way.

“I suggested them to talk with patients in a pleasant way and refrain from using a harsh tone. Similarly the doctors were asked to prescribe the medicines from the hospital medicine counter only,” he said. The PMS said the doctors should keep their calm against all odds and serve patients in a better way. On being inquired that should the doctors not keep the similar attitude on all days, the PMS said that it was exactly what is expected from them and Doctor’s day was just a beginning.

The patients also were happy to see the changed attitude of doctors. Mahipal Singh, a resident of Khurbura, said the doctors should keep a similar behaviour on other days too. He said the patients felt comfortable and were able to tell their problems more freely if the doctor talked in a soft pleasing voice. It is worth mentioning here that more than 4,000 patients visited the hospital daily; many doctors see as many as 200 patients a day. The doctors are of the opinion that huge patient load makes it very difficult for them to keep their composure.
