At the time when the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand was inaugurating the Government Doon Medical College (GDMC) at Patel Nagar, the agitated patients in the associated hospital of medical college vented their anger through ransacking. The patients erupted in fury  when the employees closed the pathology lab at 12 noon on Saturday despite the orders of the hospital administration to take samples of the patients till 1.30 pm.

The former state convener of Aam Aadami Party (AAP) arrived at the spot and sat on a Dharna outside the pathology lab. The commotion went unabated for more than two hours as most of the senior doctors of the hospital had gone to the medical college to attend the inauguration ceremony.  The Medical Superintendent (MS) of the hospital, Dr K K Tamta later doused the embers  by assuring that services would soon be brought on track in the hospital. He said that the hospital has asked the medical college to release four technicians for path lab of the hospital.

later, the staff members of the pathology department met Dr Tamta and asked for more security in wake of frequent incidents of hooliganism being resorted  to by the patients and their relatives. They also demanded that the hospital should follow the old practice of taking samples till 12 noon only for ensuring work quality.
