Patients continue to suffer due to transfer of doctors from the associated hospital of Government Doon Medical College (GDMC). However the hospital administration managed to start the stalled general operations on Friday. The hospital administration has persuaded the Principal of the Health of Nursing Training Centre, Chandan Nagar, Dr S S Negi who is an anesthesia specialist, to render his services for some days so that important general operations are conducted in the hospital. Dr Negi helped the surgeons in six operations on the day. These operations were conducted by Dr K K Tamta, Dr Abhay Singh, Dr R C S Rawat and Dr K R Sonn. In the medicine department no dialysis could be done for second consecutive day on Friday. The radiology department too continued to suffer due to transfer of Dr Yatindra Singh and failure of hospital to find a substitute for him.
The Medical Superintendent (MS) Dr K K Tamta said that some operations were done on the day by the help of Dr Negi (anesthetist) and claimed that he has accepted to help till alternate arrangements are made. The MS said that the dialysis facility would soon resume in the hospital.
He said that efforts are being made to run the hospital with the available resources and health department has been requested to send replacement of the transferred doctors.
In the recent reshuffle twenty doctors of Provincial Medical Services (PMS) posted in the associated hospital of GDMC were transferred on June 15. Under pressure from the State administration a reluctant hospital administration relieved these doctors on Wednesday.
This created problems for patients as many services of the biggest government hospital of the state have been affected. The hospital administration has requested the state health department to send immediate replacement for the transferred anesthesia specialists, emergency medical officers and radiologists so that the hospital functions in a normal way.
