Patanjali Yogpeeth being run by Baba Ramdev is now mulling to spread its wings in the form of fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) in China. Patanjali Ayurved ltd already has its bases in several countries, including United Kingdom, USA, Australia and Nepal aside from some middle eastern countries.
Now, the company has its eyes trained on the large markets of China with intention to penetrate into the outlets of the country whose markets are considered to be tough to crack.
Interestingly, while most of the multi-national companies are doing online business with China Ramdev’s company is now planning to capture the retail markets, feeding the stores directly located in the far- flung areas of China, in a bid to reach out to the desired customers.
The trend of Patanjali Ayurved ltd expanding its reach has left many of the MNCs, engaged in FMCG business in China and India, tense, given the tough competition Patanjali is landing them in back home as well as in many other countries, say the observers.
Eyeing to set up a production unit in Sahibganj, a district in Jharkhand, that the Central Government plans to turn into a multi-modal hub with direct connectivity through roads, waterways and air with neighbouring countries, PAl is all set to capture the east Asian markets with the cost of transportation and other duties being reduced.
Speaking to The Pioneer, the second in command of Patanjali group after Baba Ramdev, Acharya Balkrishna said on Friday that they were out to export their products to China in view of their huge demand in the country.
“We are planning to spread wings in countries like Myanmar and Japan too. Decks are being cleared with the required regulatory formalities with the Government having been completed.”
Acharya expressed the hope that on account of the good quality parameters maintained during production here in tune with the international standards, these products would soon flood the Chinese markets.
