Family members of Daljit Singh, a member of the local transporters’ union, who died during the bloody clash that occurred at Patanjali Herbal Food Park on 27 May staged stir in the Haridwar municipal corporation premises on Monday. They demanded arrest of Yoga guru Swami Ramdev. Aside from those associated with the truck Unions, those from the auto- rickshaw union participated in the demonstration.

Till date, ten arrests have been made from the Patanjali side. Balancing the case after receiving flak for acting partisan from several quarters, Haridwar police arrested three from the side of the local transporters  who got embroiled  in the clash with the security staff of  the food park.  Demonstration was led by the former Congress MlA Amrish Kumar. He alleged that BJP is doing everything to ensure that  Ramdev remains unscathed. “The Baba seems to feel no qualm of what has happened here,” the Congress leader said.

Sardar Malkit Singh of Padartha village said that Ramdev being equally  guilty as his younger brother Ram Bharat for  the bloody brawl should be arrested. The refrain is that the Patanjali has engaged a  horde  of  hardened gangsters from Haryana to stop the local youths from demanding their due share in the business.

However, another villager Haji Nayeem Siddiqui who participated in the stir demanded the state government to clear its stance regarding the matter. “Things are intriguing as none of the state ministers, including the CM, had cared to visit the family members of the deceased. Notably, Patanjali Herbal Food Park was re -opened on Saturday  after remaining closed for  two days in the aftermath of the clash.  Police remain deployed in large strength to keep peace.
