The newly appointed State president of Aam Aadmi Party, Chandra Shekhar Bhatt has said that the party is not affected by recent events in which a big chunk of the party leaders left AAP. Bhatt was anointed the President of State working committee at Nainital on October 3.

Talking to The Pioneer on phone, the AAP leader said that the majority of leaders who have left the party belonged to Dehradun district and their departure has not affected the party prospects in the State.

On the issue of participation of the party in the upcoming Assembly polls, Bhatt said that matter would be decided by the central leadership of the party. “National convener of the party Arvind Kejriwal would be in Haridwar in first or second week of November. We have asked our party workers to attend the public meeting in large numbers. At least two party workers from every polling booth would attend the programme,’’ he said.

The journalist turned politician said that the allegation that the party is highjacked by a handful of leaders outside the State, the new AAP president holds no ground because the party is being run by the people of the State only. He said that the party has finalised the process of appointment of zonal heads in every Assembly constituency and claimed that the party is getting very good response from all the State.

In the Nainital meet, the party appointed OP Mishra and DS Nayal as Vice Presidents of working committee, Navin Pirshali as secretary, Rakesh Negi, S Afroj, Shekhar Chand and Pravin Kumar as deputy secretaries. Srikhant Khandelwal would be the new State treasurer while Saroj Pandey would be the media incharge.
