Parents struggle to get girl admitted in school

She may manage to get admission in any school, but the real worry of this six-year-old girl from Nainital district’s Kotabagh area is how to get the burn marks on her face removed so that she could also look like her contemporaries.

On the basis of this handicap, the girl, Saumya, has allegedly been denied admission by two private schools in Ranikhet as her parents have alleged.

However, her mother Neema Bhatt informed The Pioneer that now a private school is willing to give admission to Somya. “Hopefully, we will be able to get her enrolled in the school soon. But we tried to get our daughter enrolled in two private schools earlier. While one of the private schools denied admission on basis of shortage of seats, the other school officials concerned showed their inability to take our daughter, saying since the girl has some burn marks on her face, even other children in the school may irritate her,”allegedly said Neema Bhatt.

“However, we would manage to get her enrolled in a school one day as one of the private schools has now offered a seat. But our real concern is how to bring the natural look on her face removing the scars of burn injuries,” Bhatt said. “That is why we have now appealed to the people to generously donate for the treatment of our daughter as the doctors have demanded Rs 6 lakh for curing her face,” she added.

“We don’t want any funds. But we request people to help us recover the natural look on the face of our daughter,” she said. Parents of the aforesaid girl Saumya namely Deep Chand Bhatt and Neema Bhatt are basically natives of Nainital’s Kotabagh. Her father Deep Chand Bhatt is presently doing a job in private sector in Ranikhet.

“That is why we are seeking our daughter’s admission in Ranikhet itself,” Saumya’s mother said. According to Gurvinder Singh Chadha, a Haldwani based RTI activist, people may donate for this girl’s treatment to Punjab National Bank Ac No. 0938000100238527.
