Parents seek action against harassing private schools

Published on:

Mounting pressure on the private school operators, the members of All Uttarakhand Parents Association met the secretary of Uttarakhand State Commission for Protection of Child Right and District Magistrate of Dehardun on Tuesday and demanded action against the schools engaged in harassing the parents. A delegation of the association complained to the secretary of Child Right Commission that two Class X students of Shalini School located on Shastradhara road Dehradun, Shivang Haldia and Kali Pant, were removed from the school without assigning any reason.

The delegation claimed that Haldia belongs to Scheduled Caste (SC) category; he was handed over Transfer Certificate (TC) by the Principal. This student alleges that the Principal used casteist abuses and thrashed him in his office. The members of the association claimed that both the students are under depression and commission should intervene in the matter.

On the other hand, the parents of Mount litteraji School Bhanyawala and Shimla Bypass lodged a complaint to DM Dehradun, in which they alleged that the school authorities are forcing them to buy books and stationery from the school itself. The State president of the association Niraj Singhal said that private school operators are working in a dictatorial way and charging exorbitant fees, the parents are now frustrated and expressing themselves against this attitude of the schools.
