Parents protest outside DM office

Published on:

In support of their various demands, the parents of students of about twenty schools of the city belonging to the All Uttarakhand Parents Association, staged a protest outside the office of District Magistrate (DM) on Tuesday.

The parents raised slogans against the district administration for becoming a mute spectator of the open loot of the private school owners. later, a delegation handed over a memorandum to the DM.

The President of the association Neeraj Singhal said that the hapless parents would be forced to start a massive agitation as their repeated pleas have fallen on deaf ears. He said that the private schools are arbitrarily increasing their fees every year.

Singhal said that district administration should implement the GO according to which the private schools are restricted to increase fees once in three years. Similarly the district administration should force the private schools to implement only the books of National Council of Education Research and Training (SCERT) as they are cheap and good in content.

The parents association is also demanding that the private schools should constitute Parent Teacher Associations (PTA) so that some sort of control is observed on the activities of the schools.
