Parents assn meets BJP chief over pvt schools

A delegation of All Uttarakhand Parents Association met with State BJP chief Teerath Singh Rawat at his office on Wednesday and apprised him about the gross violation of Right to Education (RTE) Act in the private schools of the State. The State president of association Neeraj Singhal informed Rawat that most of the private schools of State had not given admissions to the students of underprivileged sections which was mandatory under the provisions of RTE.

He alleged the Government had turned a blind’s eye on the functioning of these schools due to which these schools had become autocratic. The delegation handed over a memorandum to the State BJP chief in which the demand of setting up Parent Teachers Associations (PTA) in all the private schools affiliated with the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and ICSE was made so that some sort of control was there in the functioning of these schools. The memorandum also raised demand that all the schools should be forced to compulsorily use the books of National Council of Education Research and Training (NCERT) which were better in quality and cost less. The members said that the entire process of admissions under RTE should be made transparent. Singhal said that the association raised demand for setting up a regulatory authority for the private schools on the lines of higher education.
