The Finance and drinking water Minister Prakash Pant did a surprise inspection of the office of the 'Jal Sansthan' located at Dilaram Chowk here on Tuesday. The arrival of the minister unannounced created panic among the officers and the employees of the office. The minister asked the officials to bring in the complaint register where the grievances of the people regarding drinking water problems are noted. The minister found that a complaint lodged by a resident of Shivpuri colony of Haridwar was still not addressed by the department. Pant ordered the Chief General Manager (CGM) of the Jal Sansthan to act on the complaint and warned that laxity in addressing of consumer grievances would not be tolerated. The Minister inspected various departments and asked the employees and officers to look into the problems of consumers more seriously and work with empathy. He warned against delay in action on the complained and directed the officers to remove all shortcomings soon.
It is worth mentioning here that complaints such as non availability of water and pressure problem increase with rising mercury in summers. The department has a toll free number where large number of consumers are lodging their grievances.
