The committees to be formed by the Uttarakhand Pradesh Congress Committee at the village, booth, bazaar and block levels will prove to be a milestone for the 2017 Assembly election, 2018 Panchayat polls and lok Sabha elections in 2019. The PCC president Kishore Upadhyay said this while chairing a meet with party office bearers from the Garhwal region at the Congress Bhawan in Dehradun on Monday.
Chairing the meet, the PCC chief said the aim is to organise the party units till the booth and village levels to strengthen the party organisation. The main focus of the PCC will be on formation of booth level committees which will be a challenge to be met. He said, “The public today has many expectations from the Congress which has always drafted developmental policies with the general public at centre. The BJP on the other hand is focusing mainly on misguiding the public.
After forming Government at the Centre, the BJP has treated Uttarakhand with apathy in addition to budgetary cuts. Such cuts will be detrimental to the developmental efforts of disaster affected Uttarakhand. The BJP leaders are still trying to destabilise the Congress-led State Government,” he alleged.
