The surgeons at the Mahant Indresh Hospital have successfully conducted the Paediatric Surgery of children through laparoscopic Technique. A team led by Paediatric Surgeon of the hospital Dr Madhukar Maletha carried out the complicated surgery of a two-year-old child and brought out the testes which was embedded inside his abdomen since birth.
Maletha also performed a complicated operation of Hernia of another two year old child using this technique. He informed that the facility of pediatric surgery using laparoscopic methods is available in only a few hospitals in the country.
Maletha said that in the past, the laparoscopic technique was used only to carry out the chest diseases of the children. Explaining the occurrences of genetic disorders Dr Maletha said that due to certain genetic or other reasons, certain organs of the child are undeveloped during pregnancy. As a result, it is found that a few organs of the child are missing from their place in the body or are deformed. He said that the laparoscopic surgery is used to correct such deformities. Maletha thanked the Head of Department (HOD) of Surgery Dr RK Verma for guiding him.
