Over 2 lakh beneficiaries receive THR this month

Over two lakh beneficiaries in Dehradun district have received the Take Home Ration (THR) of this month delivered by Anganwadi workers. As done every month, the THR distribution began from the first week of May for children, pregnant women and lactating mothers under Supplementary Nutrition Programme (SNP) of Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS).

The THR is mostly packed and sent to the Anganwadi centres by various Self Help Groups (SHGs). This month, peanut butter was also added to the ration of those beneficiaries that include malnourished and undernourished children as well as women with high-risk pregnancies. According to Chief Development Officer (CDO) Nitika Khandelwal, peanut butter was added in THR to boost immunity and provide a healthy diet to more than 1000 beneficiaries. A Kashipur based company provided about 3000 kilogrammes peanut butter to the state administration last month. Moreover, Khandelwal informed that more than 90 per cent beneficiaries have received the THR by Friday and the remaining will get it by Saturday. "The Anganwadi workers had distributed THR to about 1,15000 beneficiaries by Thursday and around 98000 beneficiaries on Friday. The remaining will surely get it on Saturday. So far, THR has been distributed to more than two lakh beneficiaries in Dehradun," said Khandelwal. She said that the workers are delivering THR to the homes of beneficiaries as done last month to reduce the risk of COVID-19 contagion in the district while taking all the precautionary measures.
