The association of the ousted field workers of the 108 ambulance service has decided to intensify their agitation. Enraged at the government for doing nothing to address their problem even as their Dharna at the protest site in Parade ground entered seventh day on Monday, the association has decided to hold protest outside the state headquarters of the 108 emergency ambulance service from Tuesday. Addressing the agitators on the day, the Vice President of the state unit of Congress Party Surya Kant Dhasmana said that the BJP government in the state has removed more than ten thousand youths from jobs. He said that it is unfortunate that a vital service like 108 emergency ambulance service is virtually halted at a time when the Char Dham Yatra is starting in the state. Dhasmana said that the state government has not even paid pending salary of two months to these workers.
On the day, the regional political outfit Uttarakhand Kranti Dal ( UKD) also extended its support to the workers. The leader of the UKD, Latafat Hussain said that the state government has failed to protect the jobs of the youth in the state.
The general secretary of the association of field workers, Vipin Jamloki said that more than 700 workers of the ambulance workers were thrown out from the job for no fault of theirs.
He said that the agitation of the association would be intensified now as the government has failed to heed the demands of the workers of the ambulance service.
The contract of GVK- EMRI Company to operate 108 emergency ambulance service ended on April 30 after the new company, CAMP took over the operation of ambulance service.
The new company CAMP is offering less salary to the experienced worker which is the bone of contention between it and the association of workers.
The workers are demanding that they should be absorbed into the new company on existing salaries.
