The Congress party manifesto for Uttarakhand Vidhan Sabha election 2017 is not a mere bunch of promises but a commitment letter which the party will effectively execute if re-elected to office. The main focus of the party as stated in its manifesto released on Sunday, is on facilitating development with focus on the welfare of all the sections of society, said Himachal Pradesh cabinet minister and Congress observer team member for Uttarakhand, GS Bali. He also accused the Bharatiya Janata Party of misusing Central Government resources and machinery of the union government.

Addressing the media at the Congress Bhawan here, Bali opined that the Congress manifesto for the assembly election would prove to be a developmental milestone for Uttarakhand. With an attempt to focus on all sections of society, the manifesto also lays special focus on the revival of mountain agriculture, cultivation of medicinal and aromatic herbs and horticulture, he said. Bali further said that the first aim of the Congress is to facilitate the desired level of development in the state while also retaining the essence of the state. The Congress is focusing on providing a better future for the youth with provisions for measures like  unemployment allowance, laptop computer to eligible youth, which along with the aim of facilitating employment for one member of each family in the state is a major decision,. He further opined that the Congress manifesto is not just a bunch of promises but a letter of commitment which will be effectively executed if the party is re-elected to form government in the State.

Averring that the Bharatiya Janata Party had also conceded defeat in the Vidhan Sabha elections in Uttarakhand, Bali accused the party of using Central Government resources and machinery in a manner not good for democracy. The Uttarakhand Pradesh Congress Committee chief spokesman Mathura Datt Joshi and other office bearers of the party were also among those present in the Press conference.
