The Bharatiya Janata Party national President Amit Shah claimed that the BJP-led Governments at the Centre and in the State of Uttarakhand are functioning well, having achieved major success in various spheres during their tenure in office so far.
Addressing the media here, he cited various statistics to substantiate the claim that the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) Government had performed much better than the previous Congress-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) at the Centre. He also stressed that the BJP Government in Uttarakhand under the Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat had so far succeeded in providing a transparent and efficient Government in the State.
Speaking at a Press conference on the final day of his two-day visit to Dehradun, the BJP national President said that among its various achievements during its three years in office so far, the Central Government under Prime Minister Narendra Modi had been successful in improving the standing of the nation in the international sphere. Stating that the international community now views India differently, he opined that under the PM, the Central Government had succeeded in building “brand India”. He said, “During the 10 years of UPA Government at the centre, all the indicators of positive economic growth were on a downward spiral while in the three years of BJP at the centre, these indicators have been showing a positive trend. The fiscal deficit has dropped while the GDP has risen. Under the Ujjwala scheme new lPG connections have been provided to more crores of poor women while under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana more than 28 crore bank accounts had been opened across the nation. The Centre was successful in uniting the various States and parties for implementation of the Goods and Services Tax (GST) which earlier was only dreamed about. On the issue of one rank-one pension, which had been pending for many years, the Modi government succeeded in taking action in one year, as a result of which an additional Rs 8,500 crore is being released towards meeting this provision every year. The Central Government now is viewed as a Government with necessary political will,” said Shah.
He further said that moves like demonetisation had helped curb corruption and encouraged other positive aspects. Regarding Uttarakhand, he said that more than Rs 25,000 crore under the 14th finance commission and about Rs 18,000 crore under other heads had been allocated to the State in about one fiscal year. “What is this if not the result of a double-engine GovernmentIJ Uttarakhand is also a State which will benefit the most from the decision taken on one rank-one pension for ex servicemen. The Trivendra Singh Rawat Government has been in office only for about six months but has succeeded in providing a transparent and responsible Government. The influence of the liquor and mining mafia in the State has been curtailed. The State government has done good work and during the next five years, it will go ahead towards executing its State election manifesto.”
CM Trivendra Singh Rawat, BJP State President Ajay Bhatt and other party leaders were also present on the occasion.
