From the tourism point of view, Uttarakhand has all the aspects which tourists from across the nation and abroad are looking for. Tourism is one such sector which has immense possibility for development, said the Uttarakhand Chief Minister Harish Rawat. The main purpose behind commemoration of world tourism day is to raise awareness regarding the importance of tourism among people of the world. Tourism has an important role in the social, cultural, political and economic development in any nation. The condition of our tourism business has started returning to its earlier condition with the arrival of more than 12 lakh persons in this year’s Char Dham Yatra till now proving this belief. Special focus is being laid on the development of all necessary facilities in Kedarnath and other religious centres,” said the Chief Minister. He went on to speak of the single window system implemented by the state government to encourage further investment in the state’s tourism sector. Effort is being undertaken to develop the Tehri dam reservoir in to an international tourist destination with substantial scope for facilitating water sports here. Additionally, activities like river rafting, mountaineering and para-gliding are also being encouraged in the state, he added. The State Government has also attempted to link Yoga with tourism, said the Chief Minister.
