The members of the Uttarakhand Organic Product Council Employee Association staged ‘begging’ as a method of their protest at the busy lansdowne Chowk area of the State Capital on Friday.
The association is on a path of agitation for the last few days on the single-point agenda of regularisation of the services of the contractual employees of the council. These employees are working on contract from last many years and the association is demanding that State Government should bring in budgetary provisions for absorption of these workers.
The members of the association had observed a work boycott from June 1 to June 13. The association later started an indefinite dharna at their head office at Kisan Bhawan and from June 16 they started an indefinite sit-in.
