Ordnance factories' staff to unite, fight privatization

Published on:

The unions of defence employees of the ordnance factories are up in arms against the alleged attempts of the Central Government to corporatise these factories.  All the recognised federations and associations of Defence Civilian Employees would organise a meeting on the January 27 to take further course of action to fight unitedly against any move of the Government to corporatise 41 Ordnance Factories of the country.

All India Defence Employees Association general secretary C Srikumar said that more than four lakh defence civilian employees would oppose any such move of the Government. The association is of the view that since the Ordnance Factories are captive industry established for manufacturing military equipments including tanks, arms, ammunitions, and vehicles, the Defence Production Ordnance Factories should be under the control of Government only.
