The leader of opposition and Haldwani MlA Indira Hridayesh has lambasted the State Government for its style of functioning.
Addressing media persons she stated that the work on the important project of constructing inter State bus terminus at Gaulapar was stalled following reports about discovery of human skeletons. She said that the skeletal remains had been discovered at a specific site, questioning why should be that be a reason for stopping work on the remaining land marked for the project.
She alleged that stopping work on such a major project points at the “anti-development” face of the Bharatiya Janata Party. The Government should shift its focus away from rumours of skeletons and start work at the project site. “The ISBT will prove to be a milestone in the development of Haldwani and the state. Stopping its construction abruptly is cause for disappointment.
The BJP Government and its ministers are unable to digest the major public interest works facilitated by the previous State Government due to which they are conspiring to stall such projects,” said Hridayesh.
She further pointed out that before the assembly elections and prior to the change of Government in the State during the term of the Congress-led State Government, the roads in Haldwani were bright with street lights but soon after the BJP government came to office the street lights have been turned off.
Despite the Haldwani Mayor being from the BJP, development of the city is being stalled. The leader of opposition also criticised the State Government for its liquor policy, opining that presently there is no excise policy being observed in the State.
