The dysfunction of automatic analyzer machine of pathology department of associated hospital of Government Doon Medical College (GDMC) is affecting the patients visiting the hospital.
The fully automatic analyzer machine is used for many blood tests like lipid profile, sugar, liver function test and kidney functions. The breakdown of the machine has resulted in the hospital administration refusing the tests of the Out Patient Department (OPD) patients. The samples of In House Patients and those of emergency ward are being tested in another machine. The pathologists of the hospital are not putting much load on this functional machine as they fear that it too could get damaged by over loading of samples.
The dysfunctional fully automatic analyzer used to take almost the entire load of test of the samples. This machine can test more than 100 samples at one time.
The Medical Superintendent (MS) of the hospital, Dr KK Tamta said that the machine would be repaired soon. He added that till the machine is repaired only samples of in house and emergency patients would be tested in the lab. In absence of the important pathology facility the patients visiting the OPDs of the hospital are forced to go to the private labs to get their samples tested. The dysfunctional automatic analyzer has joined the list of CT scan and Eco machines which are out of order from last three and six months respectively. The budget for repair of the CT scan machine was cleared by the state government last week but the agency responsible for maintenance of the important radio diagnostic machine has not yet started work on it.
