Only Dehradun, Haridwar municipal corporations to have MNAs of IAS ranks

Now, only two big municipal corporations- Dehradun and Haridwar- across the State will have mukhya nagar adhikaris of IAS or PCS ranks. The urban development directorate of Uttarakhand  informed this while  adding that the structure of the corporations has been revised via Government  Order  dated June 12 2015. 

This information was provided by the Directorate of Urban Development Uttarakhand to social activist Nadimuddin on a reply to his application. Urban Development department further revealed that as per the Government Order No 757 of dated 12 June, 2015, structures of all the six Municipal Corporations of the state have been revised. As per this GO, the municipal corporations have been divided into three categories.

Now, the Municipal Corporation of Dehradun having population of more than five lakhs will come under Category –I. Municipal Corporation Haridwar (MCH) falls under category –II having population of around 2-5 lakhs. The four corporations left having population upto two lakhs have been kept in Category –III - Roorkee, Haldwani, Rudarpur and Kashipur. 

As per the information provided by the Urban Development of Uttarakhand, only Dehradun Municipal Corporation has Municipal Commissioner / Mukhya Nagar Adhikari as IAS or senior PCS officer. Municipal Corporation Haridwar (MCH) will have MNA as an officer of IAS or PCS cadre. The four other Municipal Corporations will have MNA having pay slab of  Rs 37400 – 46700 with grade pay of Rs 8700 of Centralized Services.
