Olympus High School celebrated its 17th annual day at the school premises. The event started with the School song, sung by the school choir, which was followed by an introduction of the Chief Guest, Kiran Dubey. Ketan Goyal got the award for All Rounder of the year. Kiran Dubey addressed the gathering after the Prize Distribution. It was followed by the presentation of Annual Report by the Principal, Anuradha Malla. A warm tribute was paid to Rabindranath Tagore in the form of a dance performance based on the Phagun song from Gitanjali.
The main highlight of the event was the play, ‘Kabuliwala.’ The play geographically portrayed Kabul and Kolkatta. The play revolved around the beautiful bond between a dry-fruit seller from Kabul, Rehmat, and a five year old chatterbox, Mini. Though the relationship sounds strange, but it is the base for one of the most touching Indian stories. Almost 250 students participated in the mega play. The play was directed by the Managing Director of the school, Kunal Shamshere Malla. He also sang the song ‘Ae mere pyare watan’ which added an altogether different dimension to the play. The other song was ‘Ganga aaye kahan se’ was sung by Kishley, the music teacher of Olympus High.
Principal Anuradha Malla said, “It was great to witness the theatrical performance by the students who worked laboriously to make the event a huge success.
We chose to depict ‘Kabuliwala’ on stage this year due to its relevance in today’s so-called modern society.”
