Taking a serious note of Government employees writing Government of India, Uttarakhand Government or name of Government departments on the their private vehicles, the Bageshwar district administration has warned such Government officials against mentioning the aforesaid titles on their private vehicles.

Writing Government of India, Uttarakhand Government or name of departments on private vehicle other than mentioning registration number is against the law. Therefore, necessary action will be taken against those Government officers or employees who are found violating this

direction, asserted B S Manral, District Magistrate, Bageshwar.

It is to note that the Bageshwar district administration has taken this step following complaints of writing Government of India, Uttarakhand Government or name of departments on their private vehicles by the Government officials.

During enforcement drive it has also  been noticed that apart from use of  registration plate,  certain titles like Government of India, Uttarakhand Government or name of departments have also been written on the private vehicles which is against the law, further said the District Magistrate Bageshwar.

More so, such practice may also lead to misusing of the vehicles. Therefore, the  Government officials have been asked not to write any such thing on their private vehicles as it is against the law and is also misuse of  powers given under the public service rules, he added.

It is worth mention here that whereas use of red beacons or writing certain titles like Government of India or name of departments on their private vehicles has been a matter of prestige for particular section of the society for long, this trend of at least writing Government of India, Uttarakhand Government or name of departments on their private vehicles is also gaining ground nowadays among the Government officials.

Although enforcement agencies launch drive against writing of certain titles or use of red beacons by a certain class of people or the so called VIPs time to time and  they also try to draw the attention of such motorists to the rules that prohibit writing these titles on the private vehicles, yet people can be seen every now and then on roads using the aforesaid titles.

It is to be seen to what extent these fresh directives issued by the Bageshwar district administration can discourage the individuals from writing these aforesaid titles.
