The district administration, Champawat, has expressed its disappointment with the officials concerned over only 18,000 farmers being provided with Kisan Credit Cards (KCCs) out of nearly 34,000 from the district.

The district administration directed the officials concerned to take necessary steps to expedite the KCC preparation process so that the farmers could be provided with the KCCs as early as possible.

At the same time, laying roadmap for preparing the KCCs, the district administration, Champawat, has asked the officials concerned to organsie camps for preparing the KCCs in the  district.

 Besides, the officials

concerned engaged in preparing the KCCs must help the

farmers complete the necessary formalities in regard to preparing KCCs so that the KCCs could be prepared according to the target set in this regard, stressed the officials concerned.

At the same the Champawat district administration has also directed the bank officials of the district to open the bank accounts of the farmers in assistance with the officials concerned of the district administration by organising camps in the rural areas across the district.

Mention worthy, its hilly terrain, Champawat being known for its huge agricultural as well as horticultural potential, farming is the mainstay of the economy of its citizens.

More so, given its suitable climatic conditions, Champawat is one of the few districts of Uttarakhand known as key producers of green leaf  tea. The facility of KCC was introduced by the Government to help the farmers to promote their farming activities.

But the delay on part of the officials concerned in preparing the KCCs has come as a setback for the development of agricultural activities in  Champawat district.
