The Government officers should keep themselves updated about the modern communication methods to be more responsive on public grievances, said the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand Trivendra Singh Rawat while addressing a training session of senior officers of Indian Administrative Services (IAS) at lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration (lBSNAA) at Mussoorie on Monday. These IAS officers are getting phase III midterm training in the academy.
He said that the younger generation is technologically advanced and it needs fast response. The CM said that the people now use social media platforms to send their complaints. Remembering Adi Shankaracharya and Sardar Patel, Rawat said that Adi Shankaracharya set up Char Dhams in four corners of the country and strengthened cultural identity while Sardar Patel played an important role in amalgamation of different fiefdoms in India. He said that since the officers present in the auditorium are slated to get higher and responsible positions soon they should know exactly what should be done.
Highlighting the need for maintaining dialogue with general public, Rawat said that many good suggestions and solutions can be obtained by this practice. Giving an example when he was agriculture minister, Rawat said that he issued three Government Order (GOs) during his seven-day tour of the state after knowing problems of the farmers. The CM urged officers to put their views clearly and without hesitation before the political leadership and said that it is duty of secretary to have total knowledge of rules and regulations and inform the minister about them.
Speaking on the occasion, the Academy Director Upama Chaudhary said that the Uttarakhand Government has undertaken many works of public welfare.
She mentioned the state being fourth state to be declared Open Defecation Free in rural areas, state Governments plan to make 670 Nyay Panchayats into growth centres, tele-radiology, tele-medicine and balloon technology schemes in her address. The Academy director also mentioned the projects to rejuvenate Rispana and Bindal rivers and praised CM for being present during recitation of academy song.
