The number of Dengue patients in Dehradun reached to 1,058 with the district health department reporting 22 new cases of the disease on Tuesday. The new patients of dengue were reported from Dalanwala, Mehuwala, Gandhigram, Jogiwala, Adhoiwala, Nehru colony, Shastri Nagar, Race course, Brahmanwala and Indira colony. The department reported eight new cases of the disease from Nehrugram situated on outskirt of the city on the day. The spurt in number of patients in Nehru gram indicates that the disease hitherto confined to urban limits has struck the semi urban and rural areas also. The district Vector Borne diseases officer, JP Bahuguna said that the samples of 273 suspected patients were tested for confirmatory dengue test, Enzyme linked Immunosorbent Assay (ElISA) on the day and out of them 22 cases were found positive. He claimed that the department is concentrating on source reduction of the disease by conducting fogging and spray of insecticide in affected areas. He also claimed that the department has conducted ElISA test on 26,135 suspected patients in this season and out of then 1,058 patients were found positive for the disease. The capital is witnessing one of the worst outbreaks of dengue in recent years. Combined teams drawn from district administration, municipal corporation, health department and civil defence are undertaking fogging in all wards of the city and undertaking mass sensitization. However, these measures appear to have little effect as menace of dengue is refusing to decline. Dehradun district has reported deaths of two citizens from dengue this season.         PNS Dehradun: The number of Dengue patients in Dehradun reached to 1,058 with the district health department reporting 22 new cases of the disease on Tuesday.
