The National Students Union of India (NSUI), the student wing of the Congress party, burned the effigy of the State administration at DAV PG College here on Tuesday to register its protest against police harassment of its activists who were supporting the agitation of students of the private Ayurveda colleges. On the day, the NSUI activists assembled at the biggest college of the State and made vehement slogan  against the State Government.

Speaking on the occasion, the district president of the Youth Congress, Bhupendra Negi, said that the police arrested the Youth congress and NSUI leaders including State president of NSUI, Mohan Bhandari, when they, along with the students of Ayurveda colleges, showed black flags to the State Minister Dhan Singh Rawat.

He alleged that the police under pressure from the ruling party harassed the students and illegally kept the student leaders under arrest for two days.

Other speakers said that the state-wide agitation would be launched if justice is not delivered to the agitating students of private Ayurveda colleges.

The NSUI workers later consigned an effigy of the State administration to flames to express their protest.
