Notices given to school to prevent traffic congestion

According to the Dehradun Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kewal Khurana,  notices had been sent in the recent past to about a dozen schools directing their management to provide parking space for parents of students inside the school campus to prevent traffic congestion on the city road outside the school. However, SP, Traffic, Pradeep Rai said that he does not have any information regarding this as the notice was sent to only one school.

The SSP had recently informed that notices had already been issued to prominent public schools of the city for failing to provide parking on their premises and thereby causing traffic congestion on the roads outside the schools out of which eight schools had responded positively. Traffic congestion on roads near many public schools caused by vehicles of parents picking up their wards is a major nuisance in the State capital.

But SP Traffic said that notice for not providing parking on school campus was issued only to St Joseph’s Academy on Rajpur Road as traffic congestion was a common problem outside the school in the afternoon when it closed for the day. “We haven’t received any order from senior officials against any school for not providing parking to the vehicles of parents picking up their wards in school premises excluding St Joseph’s Academy," said Rai.
