The Pauri Sub Divisional Magistrate Pl Shah has served a notice under section 133 of CrPC to Pauri Municipal Board for not acting on the general notice served to it for disposing the garbage dumped in public places around Pauri. The municipal board has been directed to clear the garbage in two days failing which action will be taken against it. The SDM also stated in the notice that the board can consult him in case of any problem but this has not been done yet.
locals are annoyed with municipal board chairman Yashpal Benam for directing municipal sanitation workers to stop lifting garbage 10 days ago as this has created a mess and is posing a public health risk in Pauri town. Garbage is being dumped in different parts of the town for the past 10 days. District Magistrate Chandresh Kumar had earlier instructed the board to stop garbage dumping near Timli Bend in lower Chopra following complaints by locals. Due to this Benam ordered that clearing of garbage be stopped altogether in town till the administration revokes its order.
The general public opinion is that the municipal board is not performing its main tasks due to which is exacerbating the civic problems in town. The board spent Rs22 lakh on organising but is not interested in ensuring proper garbage disposal.
