Nostalgia marks IMA reunion

Published on:

Nostalgia and bonhomie were evident during the three-day Golden Jubilee Course re-union of 34 Regular, X and XI Emergency and V and VI Short Service Regimental Commission Courses which culminated at the Indian Military Academy (IMA) on Friday.

A total of 110 retired officers attended the get together. These brave veterans who passed out from the IMA in 1964 have faced the brunt of two major wars of 1965 and 1971 in which many of their comrades laid their lives. Incidentally former Chief of Army Staff Gen J J Singh (Rtd) was part of this batch.

The IMA commandant lt Gen Manvender Singh set the event rolling with the Welcome Address at Raman Hall Auditorium. During the address, he warmly welcomed the veterans to their Alma Mater and updated them on the progress made by the Academy in all spheres over the years. He also updated them on various ongoing projects, which in coming times would transform IMA into a premier world-class military training institution.

A number of events were organised to mark this occasion and celebrate emotional homecoming for these officers. The retired officers shared their experiences and proudly remembered the days when they were in the academy. These officers and their families visited the IMA memorial where they offered floral tribute to the martyrs.

The veterans of the Golden Jubilee Course presented a trophy to the Indian Military Academy while the Commandant of IMA presented each veteran with a memento to remind them of their visit to IMA.
