More than five days have passed since the Regional Transport Office opened a cell for issuing Green Cards to commercial vehicles transporting visitors on the Char Dham Yatra circuit. However, so far no transporters have come forward to procure Green Cards.
According to the Doon Taxi-Maxi Cab Association secretary Satyadev Uniyal, those in the transport business had sustained considerable damage during the June 2013 disaster. Many even lost their vehicles to the disaster and many were injured. Due to the experience last year, many in the transport business are hesitant to ply their business here this year. The Additional Regional Transport Officer (ARTO) Administration, Sandeep Saini said that without a green card commercial vehicles will not be allowed to ply on the Char Dham Yatra circuit so transporters must procure the green card without delay.
