Denying all the allegations of the locals of Sheeshambada about the untreated leachate getting mixed with the groundwater in the area, the chief municipal health officer at Municipal Corporation of Dehradun (MCD) Dr Kailash Joshi said that proper arrangements are made at the solid waste management and recycling plant in Sheeshambada to ensure the proper treatment of leachate.
The locals of Sheeshambada are incessantly speaking about the improper treatment of leachate at the waste management plant which is allegedly mixing with groundwater and polluting it.
According to them, the polluted water is coming through the taps at their homes too and those who use tap water are compelled to use it for drinking. However, Joshi has rejected all the allegations regarding the pollution of groundwater due to the improper treatment of leachate. According to him, around Rs six crore was spent on the layering of the surface of the plant to ensure that no percolation of leachate occurs during its treatment. Besides, the proper treatment is being done through Leachate Treatment Plant (LTP) so there is no way of its getting mixed with groundwater and polluting it, said Joshi.
Meanwhile, the residents of Sheeshambada warned of protest outside the residence of the Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat besides commencing a campaign in which the local women will go door to door to aware people about the misconduct of the government in their area.
